Translation Workshops In Free Musical Speech
A note from Ronit:
In November 2008 I gave a workshop at the Total Music Meeting festival in Berlin, entitled “Translation Workshop In Free Musical Speech”. I envision this as one of a continuing series of workshops which develop music as an integrated language through body-based, emotionally attuned multisensory compositional/improvisational approaches.
In the workshop we worked from the body, emotions, interpersonal dynamics and environment to build more conscious evolving musical vocabularies. We also experimented with and observed specific consciousness shifts. What happens to our language when we shift from holding a focus on individual vocabularies to a complete availability to the group mind? What is the nature of the transition between sound and silence?
