The Love Ensemble is a group founded by composer and artist Ronit Kirchman to explore new dimensions of musical improvisation and ensemble dynamics. In particular, we are developing synesthetic, kinesthetic and multi-sensory approaches; the integrated understanding and expression of symbolic vocabularies and narratives; a more precise and expansive awareness of our cognitive states, our bodies and our environments; an evolving conceptual engagement with musical structure and form on all levels of scale and articulation; and an embrace of the physical and emotional aspects of performance material and composition. As our name indicates, we place value on the quality of our attention and seek to practice our art with love.
We meet on a weekly basis in Los Angeles beginning in April 2009. This blog documents our experiments and discussions, to include you in our process. We hope that you will find our explorations inspiring as you follow your own creative processes and muses, and that you will join us in the audience when we perform and present our work. Thank you.
